Introducing the first release by Austin’s own Fivehead, the phenomenal four-piece song machine that just started rolling not too long ago. If you like melodic rock with a variety of tempos and great lyrics (i.e.: track two, “dumb irish poet”), then you’ll love Fivehead. This four-song 7” starts out with a really good song, an upbeat track entitled, “falling out” and then slows the tempo down about five notches for the singy, Irish folk style song about stuff like “tears that taste like whiskey.” The B-side brings up the energy a little with two more tracks that are reminiscent of Pavement. I like the last song, “better part of the year”, a punchy acoustic song that slowly builds itself up and quickly tears itself down. This is a good 7” and a solid first release for Fivehead. (stabler)
